- Teachers who are currently employed in state/private primary, secondary and higher education institutions who wish to upgrade their qualifications and are involved in continuous professional development
- Those who wish to enter the field of teaching Tamil as a First Language
- Those who wish to enter the field of teaching Tamil as a Second Language
- Those who wish to gain ahonours degree qualification in Tamil and Tamil Language Teaching from a recognized institution

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
- All applicants should be above 18 years of age.
AND
- Obtained a minimum of three passes at the G.C.E (A/L) examination with Tamil as a subject or an equivalent qualification
OR - Obtained a minimum of three passes at the G.C.E (A/L) in the Tamil medium with at least a ‘B’ grade in Tamil and Tamil Literature at the G.C.E O/L or equivalent examination
OR - Successfully completed the National Diploma in Teaching (Tamil Language) from National Colleges of Education
OR - Any other equivalent or higher qualification acceptable to the Senate of the OUSL.
