The Diploma in Cosmetic Technology study program (SLQF 03) is enriched with a strong foundation of theoretical knowledge of nearly 390 hours of course work (26 theory credits) and 90 hours of practical classes, tutorials, industrial visits, mini-research projects, individual and group presentations etc.

Objectives of the Course
 To provide basic principles in cosmetic science and technology
 To provide hands-on experience in developing a range of cosmetics and their quality control analysis
 To provide leadership and managerial skills to start and management of a small cosmetic Industry
Target Group
Ideal for small and medium-scale cosmetic and beauty entrepreneurs, Cosmeticians, Cosmetologists, Beauticians, Candidates who are seeking to become an entrepreneur or expecting employment in the cosmetic and beauty industry, Interested officers from the government and private sector, Ayurvedic medical practitioners, Students from universities and tertiary education institutes, etc.

Eligibility Criteria
At least 3 passes in G.C.E A/L in one attempt or G.C.E O/L with three years of industrial experience in the relevant field or G.C.E O/L with successful completion of a certificate course in a relevant field or G.C.E O/L with successful completion of NVQF level 04 or any other related qualifications accepted by the senate
* The candidates will be shortlisted and selection will be done on an interview.

Assessment procedure 
Formative Assessment

• Mid-semester seminar presentation – 10 % of the final grade
• Industrial visit and report submission – 10 % of the final grade
• Laboratory sessions, mini-project and reports submission – 20 % of the final grade

Summative Assessment

A written examination will be held at the end of the second semester and this will be contributed 60% of the final grade.

Exam Criteria 
The Diploma in Cosmetic Technology is awarded to candidates who obtain a minimum GPA of 2.0.

Duration: one (01) year

Course fee: Rs: 150,000.00

Payment Plans
Course fee of Rs: 150,000.00 can be paid in two installments. The first installment (60% of the course fee) at the registration and balance payment within 03 months after the commencement of the diploma.
* In addition, the library fee, examination fee, registration fee should be paid at the time of registration.
Lectures and practical classes will be conducted on weekends

Mode of lectures: Physical and/or online (based on the preference of participants)

You can pay the application fee online via Visa or Master Card in LKR from this page by clicking the icons.
5. You can pay the application fee of Rs: 1,500/- online only at this stage. Unless, you have to visit to a People’s bank physically and pay the application fee of Rs: 1,500/- to the following account:

6. Login again following the above 1, 2 steps again.
7. Click on the ‘’Next’’ button at the bottom (You are allowed to edit your details, if necessary).
8. You need to upload the following documents:
o Passport size colour photograph – .jpg or .png file
o Scanned copy of birth certificate – .pdf file
o G.C.E. O/L examination results sheet – pdf file
o G.C.E. A/L examination results sheet – pdf file
o Scanned copies of any academic certificates (i.e., first degree, transcript) – .pdf files
o Scanned copies of any professional certificates (if any) – .pdf files
o Scanned copies of English language proficiency certificates (if any) – .pdf files
o Online payment receipt or Bank payment receipt – .pdf file
– Click on the ‘’Complete’’ button to submit the completed online application.

9. Send the downloaded filled application (from 4th step above) to
DipCosmeticTech@fot.sjp.ac.lk with scanned copies of:
Passport size colour photograph, Birth certificate, G.C.E. O/L and A/L (or equivalent exam) results sheets, any professional certificates and Bank payment slip
Subject field of the email: Diploma in Cosmetic Technology – 2022
10. Post the printed application (from 4th step above) along with the certified documents included in the above 8th step through the registered post to Deputy Registrar, Faculty of Technology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Pitipana, Homagama. 
Write ‘’Diploma in Cosmetic Technology – 2022’’ on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
