The National Institute of Education has introduced a bachelor of education honors degree for educational administrative officers, principals, heads of Pirivenas, teachers in Pirivenas and the teachers in the field of education to become graduates with international professional recognition.

This course is implemented in 45 centers throughout the country and it functions in all three languages Sinhala, Tamil and English.   

This bachelor of education honors degree is consisted of 120 Credits and it is implemented through fourteen subject streams as a four years course. The number of students following this course at the moment is nearly 4000 and they will be released to the education system at the end of this year.  

It is expected to admit about five thousand students to this course for the next year and the national institute of education invites all academics to join with this course in order to acquire necessary professional skills and strengthen the system by providing more meaningful service to the national education system.
